Tata Motors has disclosed its plan to bring its JLR brand products to Indian market. Although Tata is busy with its Nano car project, initially it will look for one dealer in each metro city for its JLR brand products. The process of statutory approval is yet not complete but company is hopeful of its future project. Analysts are apprehensive about the project as JLR is a high end product and needs big showrooms. According to the sources, the Ford Motor Credit Company will continue to give financing aid for JLR dealers and customers during the transition period.
According to the sources Tata will shortlist dealers from existing dealers of the company products and will ask them for separate showroom for JLR brand. Tatas will bring Jaguar XF for around 40 lacs which will have an option of either a 2.7-litre diesel engine or a 3.6-litre petrol engine. Among the Land Rover models, the Freelander will be an obvious choice. These two brands are expected to give tough competition to luxury class cars of Mercedes and BMW. Tata has already occupied a good chunk of market for economy class car market with its Indica and planning to overwhelm everyone with Nano for record low price car.
