Despite the huge demand not only in India but the world over, the Tata Motors has decided to manufacture just 50,000 Nano cars from its Singur plant in West Bengal during 2008 and 2009. Sources inform that the very first batch of Nano cars will reach showrooms from September onwards. Nano vendors in India, who did not wish their names to be disclosed, say that they expect an output of around 15,000 units between September and December. This figure should go up swiftly to 35,000 units during January-March of this fiscal.

The spokesperson for Tata Motors has refrained from sharing any detail about the Nano project. The vendors, however, say that the Tata Company has hinted about the Nano manufacturing going crucially up to 2.5 lakh units during 2009 and 2010. By this time, vital infrastructure needed for the plant such as paint shop and so on will be set up. This will majorly help in churning out more Nano cars by the Tata Motors Company. Seeing the huge demand for Nano, it is believed that the biggest challenge Tata will face will be the timely deliveries from the plant to dealerships across the country.
