Tata Teleservices Ltd has introduced its all new Assisted Global Positioning System (A-GPS) service on Monday (April 20). The new GPS service from Tata Teleservices will enable the subscribers to locate intended destinations and track vehicles and consignments from origin to destination in real time. Qualcomm’s QPoint solution and gpsOne technology integrated into its chipsets power the new solution.
 
According to Anil Sardana, the managing director of Tata Teleservices LTD, the new facility will provide reliability and enhanced applications support to Tata's  location-based services. The company will launch the A-GPS service in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Ahmedabad. However, the new GPS service will be supported by Blackberry 8830 World Edition and MotoRAZR V3 handsets.
 
In order to enjoy the GPS service, the subscribers will have to purchase a navigation device whose price ranges from Rs 2,000 and Rs 15,000. In addition to this, the users will have to pay a monthly fee of Rs 50 for Tata's GPS service. With the help of the new service, the subscribers will be able to locate their intended destination like nearest ATMs, restaurants, hotels. The users will also get navigation applications that will provide them with directions, including those for driving, and the shortest route to the desired destination from their current location.
