Tata Motors has decided to pullout from Nano Project because of continued confrontation and agitation at Singur. A Tata release reveals that in view of the current situation, the company is evaluating alternate options for manufacturing the Nano car at other company facilities and a detailed plan to relocate the plant and machinery to an alternate site is under preparation.
Industry Minister for the state of West Bengal, Nirupam Sen said that, it is a very unfortunate day - very bad day for West Bengal. He confirmed that the Tata has communicated its decision to him after a meeting to review the ground situation at Singur. Similarly, Left Front chairman Biman Bose said that Tata's decision of suspension of work is unfortunate, and he requested them to reconsider it.
On the other hand, West Bengal CM, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee too was alarmed with the situation. In his statement, he said that he has met the Governor on Tuesday and requested him that he (Governor) takes the initiative to find a solution to the situation that has evolved at Singur. However, he said that there is no need for any mediator, and the honorable Governor is considering this proposal.
