Tata Motors plans to launch its automatic transmission version Tata Nano CVT by the end of 2011.The CVT transmission (Continuously Variable Transmission) variant will make driving easy and is being worked upon by a Canadian and Tata team.
 
The company is also in talks with a Canadian Quebec-based Company for the gearless variant. The parts for the gearless Nano is expected to be supplied from Montreal-based auto component maker C-Tech if deal between Tata and C-Tech is finalised.
 
The project is on roll from last two years. A CVT variant will facilitate a smooth driving and also provide better mileage. A Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) is an auto gearbox with infinite gear ratios which are created with the help of either wheels, cones or a belt.
 
The new gearless variant launch is expected by the end of 2011. Tata Motors is also coming up with the Tata Nano diesel version in September 2011 priced between 1.8-2.2 lakhs.
