After creating a history of making the cheapest car in the world, Tata Motors has plans to use e-commerce platform to market the car. The company is said to start online bookings for Nano from September. As of now, Tata has no immediate plans to issue new Nano dealership. Instead, its 190-odd existing dealers nationally have been asked to upgrade their stores to create an ambience for Nano.

According to the sources, Tata Motors will use autojunction.com, an e-commerce portal from mjunction Services, to market the people's car. mjunction Services which is a 50:50 JV between SAIL (Steel Authority of India) and Tata Steel, specializes as a business process improvement company. There is a probability of Tata Motors creating a site of its own for online booking of cars. According to a Tata Motors spokesperson, the modes for marketing or booking of Tata Nano are not yet decided. The company has not made any decision or announcement.

When it comes to distribution, Tata Motors has a nationwide network of dealers, which naturally will be deployed for Tata Nano as well. The company is planning to reduce the distribution cost by deputing one dealer to deliver the responsibility of online bookings in each city. Tata Motors will directly send the list of bookings to the dealer so that the task becomes easier.
