India's largest passenger automobile and commercial vehicle manufacturing company, Tata Motors has decided to shut down its Jamshedpur plant for five days starting from November 25. This is the second time in one month that the company has decided to shut down the heavy trucks manufacturing plant of Jamshedpur. Earlier it was closed for three days from November 6-8. According to source, the company may go for another round of temporary closures in the month of December. However, company spokesperson dismissed the possibilities of such type of exercises in December.
When asked about the reason of regular closures of the Jamshedpur and other Tata plants, the spokesperson stated that high interest rates are deterring the progress of Tata plants. Besides all these set backs, the good news is that the new Pantnagar plant in Uttarakhand is operating smoothly. Tata may also roll out the much-awaited Rs 1-lakh Nano in the coming months. With headquarters in Mumbai, the multinational corporation, Tata Motors is serving the nation since its inception in 1945. Initially, the company was established as a locomotive manufacturing unit and with the passage of time, it became one of the leading vehicle manufacturers of India.
