Tata Motors is likely to launch the much awaited Rs 1-lakh Nano car in Mumbai on March 23, 2009. While informing about the launch date, the company said that the small car will be displayed at the Tata Motors dealerships from first week of April. The bookings for Nano will start by the second week of April. Tata Motors made the formal launch of Nano at an auto expo in Delhi on January 10, 2008.

 

According to a statement of the company, the booking process and other details of Nano will be revealed during its commercial launch. Report says that the company is engaged in trying to arrange the widest possible network to book the car. Tata Motors wants to make sure that the prospective customers can conveniently get the booking facilities at their locations.

 

Earlier the company had displayed the Rs 1-lakh car at the Geneva Motor Show last year. To compete with Tata, Nissan-Renault announced to build low-cost family cars, however global financial crisis has forced Nissan-Renault to shed the plan. Nano was supposed to be launch much earlier but due to the protest in West Bengal's Singur, the company had to shut down the Nano plant thereby incurring massive financial loss.
