Talks are on between Brazilian Aircraft manufacturer Embraer and the Tata group for initiating a joint venture for production of aircrafts. Embraer, World’s third largest aircraft manufacturer are unable to fulfill the demands of several countries and private players for the manufacture of aircrafts. Embraer (Empresa Brasileira de Aeronutica) is the only aircraft giant that makes the 120 seater commercial jets.

Head quartered at Sao Paulo, Embraer was set up in 1969. The aircraft manufacturers deal in developing the aircrafts meant for commercial aviation, defense and government needs, executive aviation.  The talks are on at an early stage but keeping in mind Tata’s expertise in various fields, it is most likely that Tata Industries is a serious contender for the joint venture. In February this year the Tata group had also signed a joint venture with world leading aircraft maker Boeing and the industry is likely to be operational from June 2008.
