Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS), the chief software exporter of India, on Monday 26 May announced that it has agreed to a five-year deal with a private European company NXP Semiconductors. TCS spokespersons further informed that work on this deal will begin from June onwards and will comprise consulting and support services for NXP’s supply chain operations.
Through a conference call, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) N.Chandrasekaran informed that the deal will begin contributing to the revenues from the September quarter. Mr Chandrasekaran divulged that even apart from the deal, there are many other undertakings where TCS has been engaged as a strategic partner. It was however pointed out that these are ‘discretionary’ spends.
NXP, which is among the top 10 chipmakers, creates automotive, consumer-electronics and wireless chips. Earlier, NXP used to be the semi conductor arm of the prominent Dutch electronics group, Philips.
