The 2010-11 Tamil Nadu budget will be presented by Finance Minister K Anbazhagan at the newly constructed state-of-the-art Assembly complex. This is the fourth time Anbazhagan will present the budget and is likely to be an election year budget as the state gears up for their Assembly polls in May 2011.
The major highlight of the budget will be scheme for the benefit of differently abled persons. The other features include measures on improvement for the alarming debt situation, due to lot of freebies doled out by the DMK government.
Meanwhile, the opposition parties have planned to raise various issues during the budget session which include price rise in essential commodities like rice, sugar and pulses. A source claims parties will also probably raise the matter on hike in petroleum products prices during the session.
The House is likely to be adjourned for a week after the budget session to enable political parties campaign for the 27 March by-election to Pennagaram Assembly seat.
