With a view to fill up the gap between leisure and business tourism in Goa, Taj group of hotels has unveiled its first five-star business property in the state. According to Taj group of hotels, an amount of Rs 110 crore is required to develop the luxury business hotel called Vivanta. Before Vivanta, there were no business hotels for the upper segment of people visiting the state of Goa.
According to Raymond Bickson, managing director of Indian Hotels, the holding company of Taj hospitality properties, Goa is emerging as the fast growing business hub and the company aims to reap the benefits. The Taj group of hotels runs several star resorts in Goa. Commenting on this, Taj Premium Hotels chief operating officer Jamshed Daboo said that the hotel group is trying to enhance the synergy between the existing properties in the state.
Jamshed Daboo is of the view that the domestic tourists are opting for Goa and such other places and they cannot afford to go for holidays abroad because of recession. He informed that properties of Taj group have an aggregate occupancy rate of 70 percent in any given week. The new the 170-room Vivanta is opened in Panaji. Apart from this, Taj group of hotels runs the Fort Aguada beach resort, Taj Holiday Village and Taj Exotica in different parts of the state of Goa.
