Actor Aamir Khan’s film ‘Taare Zameen Par’, marking his directorial debut, has failed to get an IIFA nomination. The film about a dyslexic child played by actor Darsheel Safary has earned tremendous critical acclaim and box office success after its release in December last year. International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards are believed to be the Indian film industry’s equal of the Oscars and this year the award ceremony will take place in Bangkok in the month of June.

Bollywood veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, who also happens to be IIFA Ambassador, remarked that the film’s producer Mr. Aamir Khan has refrained from formally applying for a nomination in any award category this year.

Mr. Bachchan further stated that Aamir does not believe in awards and has remained away from them for personal reasons but if he doesn’t fill in the form as a producer then his film will not come up for nomination. Films which have so far been nominated in the best picture category are ‘Chak De India’, ‘Om Shanti Om’, ‘Jab We Met’, ‘Partner’, ‘Life in a Metro’ and ‘Guru’.
