The Health authorities of Hong Kong have confirmed that eight more cases of swine flu have been confirmed. With this, the total number of swine flu cases reported from Hong Kong has become 92.
The Health Department of Hong Kong have been quoted saying that the health authorities have found 5 more people who have been infected with the H1N1 virus while they were returning from Philippines, United States and Thailand.
The Health Department also said that the rest of the three cases were reported to have been infected from within the Hong Kong. The victims of the H1N1 virus who have been infected locally are three school girls of the age of 13. These girls belonged to the first cluster in the territory where the cases have been reported from.
Till now, there are no reports from Hong Kong related to the death of any of the persons who have been infected with H1N1 virus. The mainland of China has reported about 196 confirmed infected cases of the swine flu. According to the World Health Organization reports, about seventy countries have reported around 29, 000 confirmed cases of H1N1 virus infection and the death toll due to this pandemic is around 145. This was the death rate for H1N1 viral infection by the WHO as on 12th June, 2009.
