With four more deaths, the number of people who have succumbed to the deadly H1N1 virus is now 57 in Karnataka.
Three of the 4 deaths have been reported from Bangalore whereas Kolar has registered the 4th one. All the four who succumbed to H1N1 virus are women.
The report which confirmed the reason of death to be swine flu virus was received only on Sep 11, the health official said.
A 60-year-old woman, who was admitted in a private hospital in Kolar, succumbed to H1N1 on Sep 7. One woman succumbed to H1N1 on Sep 7 whereas the other two, 31 and other in her 20s, passed away on Sep 8. All the three Bangalore deaths were reported from government hospitals.
Karantaka’s health minister B. Sreeramulu has dislosed that the government will be bearing the expense of swab test which amounts to Rs.2,000.
"A government order had been issued to all private hospitals asking them not to charge patients for swab test. They should collect the charges from the government," Sreeramulu assured.
"However, government would not bear treatment expenses of H1N1 patients, but would bear only swab test charges," he added.
