Swine flu has claimed the lives of 577 people in Brazil which is currently the highest of the death toll rate due to the lethal virus.
 
But the rate of mortality in Brazil is 0.29% which is much below the 1.08% of Argentina, 0.75% in China and 0.675 in Costa Rica, which have the highest mortality rates in Latin America.
 
The death toll last Friday was 488, adding that the toll increased to 577 after the receipt of the positive lab tests of those who died between Aug 16 and Aug 22.
 
Brazil currently has the highest number of deaths from swine flu followed by the US with 522, Argentina with 439 and Mexico with 179, according to the World Health Organization.
 
The health ministry of Brazil has revealed that about 5,206 people have contracted swine flu and undergone treatment as of Wednesday.
 
About 2.1 billion reais has been allocated by the government for the procuring of vaccinations against swine flu.
