The total numbers of people who have been infected with the lethal H1N1/A virus or swine flu, have crossed the mark of 3,000 in Australia. This information was announced by the health ministry on Thursday.
In an update to media, Health Minister of Australia, Nicola Roxon said the country has 3,199 officially confirmed cases of influenza H1N1/A virus, as of Thursday afternoon.
Of the total reported cases, 168 have been hospitalized. She also mentioned that 36 people were still in hospitals and 13 in intensive care units.
She also added that the people who have been in hospital are mostly those people who already had the conditions.
There have been three victims to the H1N1/A viral infection in Australia. Out of the three deaths, two have been reported form Victoria and one from South Australia.
The Health Minister also said that the guidelines have been released for the treatment of indigenous Australians, who have chances of developing the condition.
She also added that government may deploy anti-viral medications to the remote and rural areas so that the indigenous Australians also receive treatment.
