India took a 2-1 victory over arch rival Pakistan in the five-nation Sultan Azlan Shah hockey tournament on Saturday (11th April) and reached the final.

Indian Hockey team Skipper Sandeep Singh continued with his splendid performance of goal-scoring and led India to a 2-1 victory over arch rival Pakistan in five-nation Sultan Azlan Shah hockey tournament on Saturday (11th April). With this win India sealed their place in Sunday's (12th April) final with eight points in their kitty.
 
The inform Sandeep struck twice in the 28th and 60th minutes to seal the win in the do-or-die match. Sandeep is the leading goal scorer for India in the tournament. He led from the front scoring on either side of the break and then ensuring that India does not succumb to their perennial habit of conceding late goals. For Pakistan, it was Mohamed Saqlain who scored the equalizer in the 50th minute.
 
Meanwhile, in another match Malaysia booked its third berth in the final by drawing 1-1 with New Zealand. In 1985 they lost the final to India and in 2007 to Australia. In earlier edition of Sultan Azlan Shah cups Indians were champions in 1985, 1991 and 1995 while their other final appearances were in 2006 and last year.
