In one of the most atrocious terror attacks on Pakistan, suicide bombers killed 67 people at its biggest arms factory at Wah on Thursday, August 21. This came as a severe jolt to Pakistan, which is already staggering from the political turmoil that is threatening to bring down the ruling coalition now that Pervez Musharraf has quit as president.
The double bombings took place at one of the most sensitive and stringently guarded military set-ups in Pakistan, injuring about 100 others as well. This incident points towards the growing threat by Islamic militants to Pakistan, which is the only nuclear-armed Muslim country and its neighbor Afghanistan.
A man was arrested by the authorities from a region located close to the site of the blast soon after. They hold that he is the third bomber associated with the blasts. Local police official Mohammed Saeed informed that several other suspects also have been arrested, whereas an explosives-laden jacket has been retrieved from a nearby mosque.
