Researchers have developed a technology by which your car will be running on power derived from sugar. The process aims to convert sugar into hydrogen which will fuel the vehicles. In the process sugar is combined with water and powerful enzymes to produce hydrogen and carbon dioxide.

 

According to the researchers this new system will solve the major technical problems of producing, storing and distributing hydrogen. This method of producing hydrogen is known as "In Vitro Synthetic Biology" and it is capable of producing three times more hydrogen than the fermentation method. The experiment was conducted in a special reactor under mild conditions.

 

However the researchers say that the amount of hydrogen produced by this method is still very low for commercial purposes, but they are finding out ways to increase the amount of hydrogen produced. If this process is able to produce the required amount of hydrogen then surly we can expect the vehicles to be more eco friendly and at the same time, the pressure on the natural resources like petrol and diesel will also come down.
