Saturday morning shook Indonesia again with an earthquake with magnitude of 6.7 on the Richter scale. Although details are awaited, the quake has shocked Indonesians once again. The epicenter of quake was Maluku province, 194 km north-west of Saumlaki regency. Reportedly the quake was 72 kilometres beneath the ocean. Experts have ruled out any tsunami in the region.
Before this earth quake, another quake of 7.8-magnitude had shaken this island at 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday. The Island of Sumatra has been affected most by it. The epicenter of the quake was about 185 kilometers at the city of Padang in south. The quake took nearly a dozen of lives and generated a small tsunami of 2 ft high along the coastal area of Sumatra. This quake has horrified Indonesian citizens as before also Indonesia has experienced deadly quakes.
The deadly quake shook the buildings in Jakarta region and inhabitants of the place got scared and came out from their buildings for safe refuge. Government too has been quite prompt and issued the alert of tsunami like emergency. Subsequently government canceled the same alert. There are reports that a small tsunami was also detected in Pedang which is several miles away from the epicenter of quake.
