A strong earth quake of 6.1 Richter scale rattled southern Iran on Wednesday and killed 4 persons. Also, according to local media the quake has left nearly 34 persons injured. According to Bageri, chief of Iran's Crisis Management Organization, the center of the earthquake was between Iran's southern port city of Bandar Khamir and Qeshm Island. These are located in southern province of Hormozgan.
 
The quake caused lots of panic among people at the vicinity of Khamir port near southern port city of Bandar Abbas in Hormozgan. People were seen running on the streets for a safe shelter. Gholam Ali Daneshvar, an official at Qeshm Island, said that because of earthquake around 100 residential houses in rural areas have been damaged.
 
Iran has horrific tale of deadly earthquakes. Factually, the country is sitting on the juncture of some of the world's most active seismic faults. In the year 2003, December month a highly deadly earthquake of 6.3 of Richter scale had hit the country. That quake had killed nearly 30,000 persons in the historic city of Bam in southeastern province of Kerman.
