Stephanie Rice of Australia emphasized her supremacy in the Medley events after she broke her own world record to win the gold medal in Olympic Women's 200m Individual Medley in a brand-new mark of 2:08.45. Kirsty Coventry of Zimbabwe grabbed the silver medal, while Natalie Coughlin of the United States settled on the bronze medal.
Both Rice and Coughlin gave a tough competition to each other. Coventry, after being the fastest qualifier from the heats, swam gallantly to win the silver in a time of 2:08.59. Katie Hoff (USA) also managed the things well to win the bronze medal in 2:10.34. Rice, who qualified as second fastest into the final, now has established herself in the Individual Medley, seeing that she has also won the 400m version on Sunday.
