Starbucks Corp has unveiled its new logo that drops the words ‘Starbucks Coffee’ and retains only its iconic Siren in green.

“Throughout the last four decades, the Siren has been there through it all… Starbucks will continue to offer the highest-quality coffee, but we will offer other products as well,” Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Starbucks Howard Schultz was quoted as saying.

The new logo will be rolledout from this March, sources said. Removal of the words ‘Starbucks Coffee’ is seen as the company could expand its business into other areas also. Starbucks already runs its businesses in areas like tea, grocery, food and music among others.

As soon as the logo was launched, fans started reacting to the new logo on Facebook, Twitter and Starbucks websites.  The company has also received some unpleasant backlashes over the new logo.
