Hindi entertainment channel, STAR Plus has retained the top slot after its movies and events generated additional TRPs (television rating points). According to the data provided by TAM Media Research, the channel has regained the number one spot in Hindi general entertainment channel genre after about 24 weeks. STAR Plus has garnered 20 GRPs (gross rating points) from last week and its relative share stands at 23 per cent.
The massive boost in viewer-ship has come because of the Star Parivaar Awards which was aired on the channel on June 13. According to TAM data, the award ceremony has earned a whopping 42 GRPs (gross rating points) along with a TVR (television viewer rating) of 5.66. The Star Parivaar Awards became the second most watched programme on television in Week 24.
Meanwhile, Colors channel came to second position by losing 38 GRPs. With 20 points, STAR Plus’ total tally reached to 266 GRPs while Colors has an overall score of 232 GRPs. As per estimates, Colors channel’s relative share dropped to 20 percent from 23 percent. The TV show Balika Vadhu aired on Colors is at No 4 this week on the list of top 10 most watched programmes.
Zee TV is at third spot with 221 GRPs in 24 weeks. Its relative channel share stands at 19 percent. With a 9 percent share of the GEC pie, NDTV Imagine is at No. 4 and has recorded 104 GRPs in the latest week. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai aired on STAR Plus tops the list of top 10 programmes on Hindi GECs with the highest TVR of 5.9. Bidaai has recorded a TVR of 5.35, followed by Balika Vadhu, which garnered 5.3. Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo, the most popular show on Zee, has recorded a TVR of 4.31.
