Pakistan government is all set to impeach its president Pervez Musharraf. And, in this regard a meeting of the National Assembly, the lower house of parliament will be held on Monday evening to initiate the impeachment process. Pervez Musharraf has been charged for abrogating the constitution and damaging the country's democratic processes.
However, under the constitution, a two-thirds majority is needed in order to impeach the president. Nonetheless, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal said that they have support of more than 310 members, which is more than 295 required to impeach the president in both houses of parliament. Also, Mr Iqbal added that the impeachment is according to nation’s constitution.
On the other hand, Mr Iqbal showed his unhappiness on recent developments where it is said that ruling party will need support of opposition parties. Commenting on the issue he said that a wrong impression is being created that the ruling coalition will need the support of the opposition parties to get the impeachment resolution passed. He assured that he has the required numbers.
