New Zealand made a promising start to the innings. The team was up with the required run rate for the initial overs. Guptill scored 43 runs off 34 balls. But, the spinners put brakes on the Kiwi batsmen. He dismissed Taylor and Styris in the same over. The Kiwis, who were doing well until this stage, were pegged back after the loss of two quick wickets.
Murali joined in and tightened the screws further. New Zealand lost last six wickets for 17 runs. The team was all out for 110 runs. It was a comfortable win for Sri Lanka. The Lankans join South Africa, Pakistan, and West Indies in the semis.
