Spice Telecom has launched a new mobile phone, the ‘People Phone’ that comes with lifetime prepaid connection at Rs 599 only. Navin Kaul, CEO of Spice revealed that the new phone will be sold only in Karnataka and Punjab over the next two months. Mr. Kaul further added that the new phone has been completely developed by Spice after lot of research was conducted in rural areas of Karnataka.
 
The GSM phone S-300 includes battery back-up of fifteen days and a talk time of three hours. The phone however does not have a display screen and SMS function. The subscribers of this phone will have a three year warranty and can make outgoing calls to any local number at Re 1 per minute with lifetime validity. The phone also boasts of a interface system in regional language. In the near future, brail language for the keypad is also going to be available for the phone. Mr. Kaul significantly noted that the next level of mobile revolution comes from rural areas. The creation of the people phone is hence a move in this direction.
