An agreement has been inked between Spice Digital and Zoom Developers for launching Zoom Developers for providing mobile governance to Himachal Pradesh. Spice Digital provides value-added services for mobiles.
"Spice Digital has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Zoom Developers for starting mobile governance services from common service centres being run by Zoom Developers in the state," Spice Digital said in a statement.
Spice Digital CEO Vinish Kathuria signed the MoU with .K. Tiwari, who leads the e-governance project for Zoom Developers at the India International Trade Fair, which is taking place in New Delhi on Sunday.
Spice Televentures chairman Dilip Modi said Spice Digital would provide VAS through 600 common service centres to the people of Hamirpur, Una, Chamba and Kangra districts, with the establishment of 400-plus centres.
"On an average, one common service centre will be set up for six villages which will be run by locals, who will be trained by Zoom Developers," the spokesperson said.
The services would be available to registered customers only.
"Information relating to agriculture, horticulture, weather report and government schemes would also be provided to the residents on their mobile phones," said the spokesperson.
Modi has also rolled out the ‘Spice Guide to Himachal’ scheme, which would provide information on this Himalayan state to all those mobile users who have GPRS-enabled handsets.
