Southern China has been badly hit by flood which has claimed more than 57 lives and has made more than a million people homeless.

More than 57 people died and eight were missing in flood in southern part of China according to the state media report. Besides these deaths, more than 1.27 million people have been forced to flee their homes across nine provinces, including Sichuan which has not even come up against recent earth quake that claimed more than 70,000 people.
 
According to state media heavy rain in Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan provinces will further raise water levels downstream, especially in the coastal manufacturing powerhouse of Guangdong. These places will receive more rain in coming days. Guangdong province has been the most affected region, has lost more than twenty lives. Nearly six million people reportedly been affected in this region only.
 
According to the reports published in ‘China Daily’ streets and houses along the Xijiang River in Guangdong were submerged in the worst flooding to hit the Pearl River Delta region in 50 years. More than 45,000 houses collapsed and 140,000 have been damaged. The report quoting Huang Boging, Deputy Director of the Guangdong Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, says that a major flood is feared if rain continues.
