South Africa beat India by 12 runs in the last Super 8 match at Trent Bridge. South Africa have been unbeaten so far. India has lost all the three Super 8 games. South Africa won the toss and chose to bat. The pitch was assisting spinners. But, de Villiers batted superbly to counter the spinners. India used eight bowlers. Dhoni kept rotating his bowlers. AB de Villiers was the highest scorer with 63 off 51 balls. South Africa scored 130/5.

The Indian openers began well, with Gambhir and Sharma scoring freely against Parnell and Steyn. The pair added 48 runs for the first wicket. But, the scoring rate dipped and wickets started tumbling after spinners were introduced. Botha took 3 wickets for 16 runs. Yuvraj and Harbhajan provided some hope for a brief period of time. But, they were left with too much to do in the final overs. This time Jadeja batted at number 8. He could not do much to help India’s cause. The team fell short by 12 runs in the end.
