Sony has announced a new line of ultraportables, Vaio Z Series which are designed to provide performance along with portability. These ultraportables are based on Intel's latest Core i7 chips and offer built-in Raid storage using up to four Flash solid state drives (SSDs).

The new Vaio Z Series laptop is described as the ultimate travel companion that does not compromise on mobility, looks, connectivity or stamina. The product weighs only 1.45kg and sports a 13.1in screen.

The models based on Intel's new Core i7 processors can offer a good frequency of 2.66GHz and the storage space can be enhanced up to 8GB with either DDR3 memory or with a dual or quad SSD Raid configuration. Generally, the quad configuration enables six times more speed than the conventional one.

The Sony Z Series can also be fitted in a DVD ±RW drive along with supporting a Vaio Everywair 3G mobile broadband adapter. The 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi is also well suited with the latest product.

The portables are supported with an integrated Nvidia GeForce GT330M graphics chipset with 1GB of its own memory for providing better graphics.

The Vaio Z Series products are expected to hit the market in March this year. However, the pricing details are yet to be disclosed.
