Sony has planned for the launch of a new Premium PlayStation Subscription Service, similar to Xbox LIVE service. This will help the audio giant to compete with the Xbox LIVE service.
This news has been gaining momentum after a presentation of this PSN service at a Media conference.
Sony PlayStation head Kaz Hirai said, "SCE will further increase sales by offering users new entertainment through the combination of hardware, software, peripheral and PlayStation Network. Especially in the online area, we are studying the possibility of introducing a subscription model, offering premium content and services, in addition to the current free services."
Now, Sony will be able to provide digital copies of games and other digital content through the PSN. Apart from that, the players can avail attractive discounts, beta test along with getting the exclusive services from PSN. The officials have clarified that the new subscription based model will involve the game content and video service only.
