Sony has unveiled a new portable game player called PSP (PlayStation Portable) Go. As per company sources, the new version of hand-held PSP console is slated to be launched in market by October this year. The product will be available in US and Europe for a price of $249. PSP Go is much lighter and smaller compared to the existing version, the PSP-3000. The new version is also costlier than PSP-3000, which costs $169.
The all-new PSP Go has been designed to download games and store them in its internal memory while the earlier version had played games stored on small optical discs. With the introduction of the new version of portable game player, Sony is trying to reclaim its leadership in the fast emerging video game market. The company has also announced a slew of new games for PlayStation 3 that include Massive Action Game. This sort of game allows up to 256 players to battle simultaneously on a simulation of a modern battlefield.
Sony has also planned to come up with new games like God of War III, a dark take on Greek mythology and others in 2010. Sony is reported to be lagging behind its rival Nintendo as far as sales of its latest home and portable game machines are concerned. Nintendo has sold more than 100 million of its hand-held DS machines, which much higher than that of Sony's.
