Despite the fact that it’s first Indian Production, Saawariya failed at the box-office, Sony Pictures is still keen on making its way into the Indian market. Sony Pictures Worldwide and Pritish Nandy Communication (PNC) have signed an agreement to produce three movies which will mainly be targeted at the Indian movie viewers and the global audience as well.
Both PNC and Sony Pictures Worldwide are expected to invest huge amounts of money, to the tune of 250 crores, though these are not the actual official figures. After its debut production venture failed at the Indian box office, the global motion picture company is making sure that they get it right this time around. Later this month, Sony Pictures' Chairman Michael Lynton would be flying to India to oversee the production plans first-hand.
PNC's chairman Pritish Nandy believes that the Indian creativity and the resources of Hollywood is a deadly combination and this deal will help them to tap into the new markets. Mr.Nandy further added that this deal will help Pritish Nandy Communications to use Sony's international distribution and production expertise. According to sources, both these companies are planning to produce the first film titled, Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram which will be a comedy title. It will be shot mainly in Las Vegas and is likely to have a budget of Rs.70 crores.
