Sony Ericsson W995 was launched during May 2009.

Walkman plus Camera (Camera is a whopping 8.1 mega pixels) plus motion gaming plus Net browsing. And yes, it is all in one single device, which is nothing other than a phone. Whatever the Music Express junkies want, they will get it (and more) from the Sony Ericsson W995.

It leaves all those who own it - Is it a Cybershot? Is it a Walkman? Is it a phone? It’s all up to you to decide but this multi-tasking phone is able to manage to stride the fine line between being serious and being playful.

And if phones are all about music, movies (way-cool video quality plus a stand to rest the phone on) and photos (picture quality is better than most phones but not astounding considering the 8.1 mega pixels), then this new phone is definitely a “Mind-blowing- fantastic” and what not!

It is available in India for just Rs 26,786.

Key Features:
  • Brushed metal body parts
  • Quad-band GSM, dual-band HSDPA
  • 2.6" 256K-color TFT display of QVGA resolution
  • 8.1 megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, face detection
  • WQVGA video recording at 30fps
  • Built-in GPS with A-GPS functionality
  • Wi-Fi with DLNA support
  • Bluetooth (with A2DP) and USB v2.0
  • Accelerometer sensor
  • 118MB of internal memory and M2 memory expansion (8GB card included)
  • Stereo speakers
  • 3.5 mm audio jack
  • Kickstand
  • Walkman 4.0 music player with Shake control and SensMe
  • FM radio with RDS
  • Multi-tasking support
  • Smart dialling
  • Comfortable keypad, nice sliding mechanism

What to look for:-

Superb music features and sound quality. The interface is a much-improved one. There is 3.5 mm headphone jack as well as a wonderful GPS

Main disadvantages:
  • Video recording limited to WQVGA
  • No lens protection
  • No DivX/XviD video support (though it's touted as a video-centric phone)
  • Kickstand construction could've been more reliable
  • No office document viewer

In short, this is something to those who are crazy about hi-end gadgets.
