Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Industrialist Ratan Tata and PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi have found a place in Time Magazine’s 2008 list of the world’s most influential people.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi has become the only Indian politician to make it to the Time Magazine’s 2008 list of world’s most influential people. The 61 year old party president has been listed in the category of leaders and revolutionaries. Two other Indians who have found a place for themselves in the prestigious 100 most influential people of 2008 list are Industrialist Ratan Tata and PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi.  
 
Time Magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people also included among others Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama and Chinese President Hu Jintao. In write up for Mrs. Gandhi in the Time Magazine, Shashi Tharoor has written that the lady is remarkable at every level and the narrative about the Congress leader has a fairy tale element. The magazine described the PepsiCo CEO as a ‘world class leader’. Meanwhile Ratan Tata was hailed for unveiling his affordable one lakh car ‘Nano’.    
 
The list of the world’s 100 most influential people covers heroes and pioneers, leaders and revolutionaries, scientists and thinkers, builders and titans, artistes and entertainers who are believed to have made an insightful impact on the world. The list appeared on the magazine’s website on Thursday, May 1, 2008. The list further included former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and US Presidential contenders Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John McCain.
