Somdev Devvarman and Prakash Amritraj of India lost their opening round matches in the ATP Challenger tennis at Knoxville.
 
The sixth seeded Somdev, went down to Roko Karanusic of Croatia  by 6-7 (8), 3-6 . Prakash Amritraj lost his first round to South Africa's Izak Van der Merwe  by 3-6, 2-6 in the $50,000 hard court event.
 
Somdev, however, advanced into the doubles second round. He with his fellow Indian Purav Raja registered a 6-4, 7-6 (3) win  over the American combo of  Cory Parr and Todd Paul.
 
The Indo-American pair of Prakash and  Kevin Kim lost to Davey Sandgren and John-Patrick Smith of Australia  by 2-6, 3-6 in men’s doubles.
