Mohamoud Guled Gamadere has been appointed as the new prime minister of Somalia by the country's president Abdulahi Yusuf Ahmed. The Somali president had recently sacked Nur Hassan Hussein from the PM's office on charges of incompetence, embezzlement and mismanagement. It is worth mentioning that, president Abdulahi Yusuf Ahmed went for the appointment of the new prime minister even after Hussein ministry was voted unanimously in a confidence vote held on December 15.

When Nur Hassan was dismissed from his service, he refused to resign and said that the president has no legal rights to sack him. Meanwhile the international community expressed concerns over the current political situation of Somalia and urged both the sides to sort out the differences between them and work jointly for the betterment of the country. Speaking on the issue, African Union Commission chief Jean Ping stated that the dismissal of Nur Hassan Hussein from PM's office will hamper the efforts to bring peace and further weaken the transitional government.

The situations in Somalia are in volatile stage as the nation has been experiencing combats between different armed groups for the last 17 years. The internal violence has led to the displacement of some one million people. The absence of effective government in the country gave ample opportunity to the pirates to continue their regime on Somali waters. The economic condition is being shattered as around one third of the population need urgent food assistance.
