Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda is all set to make five fresh launches in India next year, which will also include its much-touted global small car. With these launches, Skoda plans to foray into newer segments like multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and the sports utility vehicle (SUV). Thomas Kuehl, member of the board Skoda Auto India has informed that the company plans to introduce a compact car in the price range Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
He added that India would act as the global launch pad for this particular car. It was further informed by Thomas Kuehl that Skoda Company will first bring in multi purpose vehicle Roomster by the year-end. After this, its other new cars like Laura, Octavia and Fabia Combi will follow suit. The Indian market will be the focus of Skoda Company’s attention in the coming years. Its present sale in the country is about 13,000 units, which it expects to increase to 100,000 units in the next five years.
