After an agreement with West Bengal (WB) CM Bhattacharjee, Mamata Banerjee called up agitation at Singur. Under the compromise formula 400 acres of land where 300 are in the Tata Nano project area and 100 acres in adjacent area will be given to farmers who have not agreed to surrender their land. WB, CM considered the event a victory for industrialization and development for state.

Earlier, WB Governor, Gopalkrishna Gandhi announcing the compromised formula said that he is happy that conflicting parties have come into consensus to solve the issue. He thanked both the leaders to conclude talks successfully. Under the compromise agreement a committee will be formed to settle the modalities in seven days. There would not be any construction in meanwhile on vendors' behalf at the site.

On the other hand, both the parties claim the agreement a victory for them. While WB CM considered it as victory for industrialization and development of the state, Mamata said that it was a victory for protesting farmers as according to her maximum land which would be returned to farmers is within the Nano project site. But, Tata has already clarified that if vendors move from the site of Nano project one lakh car would not be viable.
