Shriram EPC, engineering, procurement and construction firm, has joined hands with a US-based firm for manufacturing material handling equipments. Shriram EPC is a Chennai-based firm.
According to the managing director of Shriram, T. Sivaramana, who was addressing the media during the margins of the AGM of the company, "We have been building the material handling systems ourselves for turnkey contracts executed by us. We now intend to get into this business seriously”.
He added that Shriram EPC and a US firm have been bidding jointly for material handling projects in India.
He added that Shriram EPC has plants for venturing into the setting up of cooling towers for power plants, since it is already in the business of manufacturing these towers.
Orient Green Power, a subsidiary of Shriram, is eyeing for the acquisition of wind energy farms in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
"Orient Green will refurbish the wind mills and own the farm. We currently have 98.5 MW wind power and the target is to increase that to 200 MW," Shivaraman said.
