Indian shooters Gagan Narang and Sanjeev Rajput failed to qualify for the final round of the men's 50 metres 3-position event at the Olympics in Beijing on Sunday, August 17, thus crashing all expectations for a medal.

A score of 1167 points (394 prone, 389 standing, 384 kneeling) ranked Gagan Narang 13th, whereas Sanjeev Rajput with his score of 1162 points (395 prone, 380 standing, 387 kneeling) was way down at the 26th position during the qualification round at the Beijing Shooting Range.

Though Rajmond Devebec of Slovakia topped the qualification round, he was far from his own best. The Slovak, who holds the world record of 1186 points, shot 1176 (399 prone, 386 standing, 391 kneeling) in the qualifiers on the last day of shooting competition.
