Shomu Mukherjee, the renowned film maker and father of Bollywood beauty Kajol, is no more. He breathed his last in Mumbai on Thursday following a massive heart attack. He was 65. Shomu has left behind his wife Tanuja and two daughters Kajol and Tanisha. Shomu had been facing health problems for quite some time and was even hospitalized. He died at 8:20 am at home.
The tragedy has struck the Mukherjee family on the eve of the release of the directorial debut of Ajay Devagan, U Me aur Hum. But according to the film sources, the film will be released on the scheduled date. Shomu was the producer- director films such as Nanha Shikari, Fifty Fifty, Pathar ke Insaan, Sangdil Sanam, Ek Bar Muskura Do etc. His tragic death is a loss for the entire Indian cinema.
Shomu Mukherjee was the youngest son of late Sashadhar Mukherjee, who is known to have founded Filmistan Studios. While his other two brothers Joy Mukherjee and Deb Mukherjee chose acting, Shomu decided to become a producer and director.
