The seat sharing formula of the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance for the forthcoming Maharashtra elections has been finalized. The polls, which are slated to go on October 13, will see Shiv Sena contesting for 169 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party will be fighting for 119 seats, which is just two more when compared to the seats which it had been allotted during the 2004 elections.
According to Neelam Gorge, who is the spokesperson of Shiv Sena, while addressing the media, told that Uddhav Thackeray, the executive president of Shiv Sena, the state president of BJP Nitin Gadkari as well as Gopinath Munde, the general secretary of BJP, will publicize the alliance on Saturday.
Gadkari and Munde met the senior Shiv Sena leader, Bal Thackeray, on Friday at his residence, Matoshtree, located in the Mumabi surburban region, Bandra, for resolving the gridlock over Guhagar seat in coastal Konkan.
"The Sena chief blessed Munde and Gadkari and the alliance is likely to be formally announced tomorrow," Gorhe said.
The Sena has asked for the seat which is currently being held by Vinay Natu of BJP. Over 140 BJP functionaries in Konkan have offered to quit the party, opposing any move to hand over the Guhagar seat to Sena.
