Shinata Sangha’s wish, as a child, that he wanted to be Miss India and then win the Miss World Contest always left elders in splits, as none ever contemplated there could be an iota of realness in what the four year old was saying. But at 19, he has finally attained his dream and made history by becoming the first Indian to win a major trans gender beauty pageant.

Despite facing lots of hurdles in his way, abuses and rejection by a section of the society, Shinata Sangha is not at all coy about being who he is. On the contrary, he proudly announces that he is the ‘world's first ever South Asian transgender beauty queen and supermodel’. He was crowned Miss Transvestite 2008 in the UK. Referring to beauty pageants, Shinata says that they were everything that he ever desired to be part of.

Shinata Sangha was born to Indian parents who migrated to England when he was a child. He reveals he is happy that his parents and family have supported his decision and stood by him through thick and thin. Sangha further informs that he was hailed the winner of Miss Glamour Queen UK 2006, after which he went on to win the Miss UK Transvestite 2006. Among other beauty pageants Sangha has won include the International Queen of Nations in 2007, Miss Alternative London 2007, etc.
