Shibu Soren, Jharkhand Chief Minister skipped a four state chief ministers meeting with Chidambaram and CMs of Bihar, Orissa and West Bengal to discuss the offensive against Maoists, saying he is not well. The meeting is to be held in Kolkata on Tuesday, 9th February.
The CM’s press advicer, Safiq Ansari said, “Soren could not leave for Kolkata as he fell ill early on Tuesday morning. Two Deputy Chief Ministers Sudesh Mahto and Raghubar Das have left for Kolkata to attend the meeting.”He added, “He is suffering from a blood pressure problem. He is likely to be admitted to hospital.”
The political community, however, suspects other reasons behind his skipping the meeting.
A CPI-M (Communist Party of India-Maoist) leader, Kishanji, had warned the CM through the media that if he attended the meeting then there would be no further dialogues from their side.
The CPI-M has even called a strike that will last for three days in the four states of Jharkhand, Bihar, Orissa and West Bengal to protest against the proposed offensive the CPI-M known as ‘Green Hunt’.
Neyaz Ahmad, the Jharkhand Police Chief, said that almost 70 to 75 percent of the arrangements for the offensive against the CPI-M were done.
