Dinara Safina kid sister of Marat Safin a well known tennis player defeated Maria Sharapova in French Open tournament here at Roland Garros by 6-7 (6), 7-6 (5), 6-2. Even after beating Sharapova Safina didn't exactly display bravado. Replying to the question whether she could win the title she said winning French Open is not easy. Maria Sharapova on the other hand showed her anguish on one of her worst plays. She said she was close to victory but did not go right at the end, now she has to wait another year to win the title.

 

"Oh, I was angry," was the reply from Sharapova on the question of her day’s play. Further she said that she was angry for making unforced errors, for not taking some of those balls and just ripping them. She displeased spectators who have come to watch her match. After the match she did not even acknowledge the fans who were cheering her throughout the match. She said that she can not please everyone and that is not in her job description. Further she said people came and paid for ticket to watch her and they must appreciate her on some level.

 

Now winner of the match Dinara Safina will face no. 7 Elena Dementieva, the 2004 French Open finalist who beat No. 11 Vera Zvonareva 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 in another all-Russian match Monday.
