Shammi Kapoor is Aamir Khan's lucky mascot. Aamir has always seeked his blessings right from his debut film. Aamir says that it’s been a ritual in his family to present the first music CD of any forthcoming film to Shammi Kapoor. He further adds that Shammi Kapoor's blessings are very important for him. He has been like a guiding force since a long time now and has been very close to their family as well. Since this time its the launch of Imran, its very important occassion as well.

Shammi Kapoor has also been a very old family friend of the Khans having worked in classics like Teesri Manzil and Tum Sa Nahi Dekha which were produced by Nasir Hussain, Aamir Khan's uncle. Aamir Khan also recently cancelled the music launch party which was planned for the music release of Imran Khan's (his nephew) debut film Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na, the music for which has been composed by none other than A.R. Rehman.

Aamir said that he would rather make it a more private affair by going and seeking the blessings of his lucky mascot on May 20 and present him with a copy of the film's music rather than hold a big party. Khan had, on earlier occasions gone to seek the blessings of Shammi Kapoor with the first music CD of Taare Zameen Par. Now, he is launching his nephew Imran Khan with his third production Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na.
