The FIFA World Cup organisers are having headache over their musical selection. Shakira’s ‘Waka Waka’ is chosen as the anthem of this year’s world cup but it is facing criticism from the people of South Africa over the poor pronunciation of African words by the singer in the song.

The controversy sparked after the track was played on every radio station of Johannesburg last week and locals posted the comments on the song by saying, ‘It’s horrible’ and ‘How badly has Shakira sung the African part of it’.

But, the critics are not only upset with the song but they are also opposing that South Africa’s World Cup anthem has not been sung by a local singer. Meanwhile, the Colombian singer collaborated with South African band ‘Freshlyground’ for ‘Waka Waka’.

The opening ceremony was also highly criticised by the people of Africa for including too many foreign artists like, Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys and John Legend instead of local musicians.

Shakira will again perform ‘Waka Waka’ with Freshlyground at the final match on July 11.
